DC directs officials to ensure cleanliness at Rewari grain markets

Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Meena has directed officials to ensure cleanliness and a hygienic environment in all grain markets across the district. He emphasised that no area of the markets should appear dirty and instructed them to strictly monitor the areas to maintain the sanitation standards.

The directions were issued during a meeting held on Tuesday with local officials from various departments, focusing on the cleanliness and management of the grain markets in the district.

The DC specifically instructed that daily cleaning of roads and sheds must be carried out in the Rewari grain market. He also directed the procurement agencies concerned to ensure the prompt lifting of wheat and mustard after the completion of the purchasing process.

He urged both the market committee and commission agents (arhtiyas) to maintain cleanliness at their respective locations within the grain market and ensure that no garbage is spread anywhere in the market premises.

To ensure convenience for farmers, Meena said the market committee should operate in a manner that supports farmers and prevents any form of inconvenience.

The DC also issued strict instructions to municipal officials to take action against shopkeepers who fail to dispose of waste in designated dustbins. “Offenders are to be fined if found dumping garbage improperly,” he added.

Meena further directed that the cleanliness of public toilets in the grain markets should be maintained regularly. He instructed the Municipal Council to include door-to-door waste collection in the upcoming tender process. Garbage collection vehicles must collect waste from dustbins every evening without fail.

The DC also stressed the need to prevent illegal parking within grain market premises and asked officials to keep a close check on such activities. He announced that surprise inspections of grain markets would be conducted, and any lapse in cleanliness or management would lead to action against the responsible officials.

“Farmers should not face any inconvenience while visiting the mandis. All necessary facilities must be ensured to maintain a clean, organised and farmer-friendly environment,” said he said.
