MLA Arora divested of security cover

Jalandhar: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Jalandhar Centre Raman Arora was reportedly divested of his entire security cover on Tuesday. Sources said Arora was having a cover of 14 security personnel, including Punjab Police commandos, 10 more than his entitlement. Arora, meanwhile, feigned ignorance about the development. – TNS

Drug smuggler’s house razed

Ferozepur: Tightening the noose around drug peddlers under the state government’s ongoing campaign, the police on Tuesday demolished the house of an alleged drug smuggler Joginder Singh, alias Shammi, at Nihala Kilcha village in this border district. SSP Bhupinder Singh said Joginder had been booked in 29 cases under the NDPS Act, besides being involved in several incidents of robbery. He was presently lodged in Bathinda jail. – OC

Another Pak drone spotted

Ferozepur: Tension gripped the border town of Guruharsahai in the district once again after a Pakistani drone was spotted entering Indian territory around 10 a.m. on Tuesday morning. The BSF personnel reportedly opened fire to bring down the drone, forcing it to go back. Senior officials confirmed that security in the border region has been further intensified after the air-intrusion attempt. – OC

Cops escape in firing incident

Abohar: Cops, led by assistant sub-inspector Sukhwinder Singh of Abohar City-1 police station, had a narrow escape when a biker allegedly fired a shot at them on Monday evening near Dhani Kamayianwali located on the outskirts of the town. As the biker fell and fired the second shot, it hit and injured his right leg. Cops then overpowered him and seized the .32 bore unlicensed revolver, two live and two empty cartridges from him.
