Fire Breaks Out At Nursing Home In Delhi's Uttam Nagar; Patients, Staff Evacuated
A fire broke out at a nursing home in west Delhi's Uttam Nagar on Tuesday evening prompting the authorities to press 11 fire tenders to service, said an official.
The fire broke out in the second and third floors of the dental wing of BM Gupta Hospital and Delhi Fire Service was alerted about the blaze at around 8 pm, the official added, according to PTI.
There were no casualties reported in the incident. The blaze was brought under control after nearly one and a hald hours with the deployment of 11 fire tenders.
"We rushed 11 tenders to the spot and the fire was brought under control at 9.25 pm. The fire was reported in the nurse hostel on the second floor of the building and some portions of the third floor had medical reports," the officer said
The building has a ground floor and three more floors. The ground floor has a chemist shop while the first floor comprises offices and an OPD.
Around 15 to 20 patients and staff members present at the time when the fire broke out were safely evacuated. No injury or casualties were reported in the fire which was declared under control at 9:25 pm.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
