Amitabh Bachchan gave Rekha her biggest and only…, she revealed ‘He unknowingly paid…’

Rekha and Amitabh Bachchan’s bond is something that has not been hidden by anyone. Their rumoured relationship was one of the biggest scandalous affairs in Bollywood’s history. It all started with ‘Do Anjaane’, when Big B was already married at that time to Jaya Bachchan.

In 1981, Rekha and Amitabh’s electrifying chemistry in ‘Silsila’ became a superhit and there were conversations and speculations about their relationship. The romantic on-screen pair were also a part of movies Muqaddar Ka Sikandar (1978), Mr. Natwarlal (1979), Suhaag (1979), Do Anjaane (1976), and Ram Balram (1980).

Veteran actress had once shared about her bond with Amitabh Bachchan that he gave her the best compliment that had stayed with her always.

She revealed, “Look, when we started working together, we were at a very impressionable stage. Each one left his or her impression on the other. If you saw a crowd in those days from a top angle, you just saw a whole sea of heads with the Amitabh hairstyle. I worked with him in 10 films at an early stage of my career, spanning over so many years. How can I not be influenced?”

Opening up on the best compliment she received from Bachchan, Rekha said, “I think the only compliment he has knowingly or unknowingly paid me was that he gave me an opportunity to work with a great co-star like him. That is the biggest compliment I have ever received.”

Amitabh Bachchan married Jaya Bachchan in 1973 and Rekha married industrialist Mukesh Agarwal in 1990.
