The Bollywood’s Dhak Dhak girl gained momentum in the Bollywood industry from a superhit film Tezaab. The movie also featured Anil Kapoor in the lead role. While the film became a huge hit, one will be amazed to know that neither Madhuri nor Anil were the first choice for the film. Yes, that’s correct! The makers wanted to approach another actress, however, with fees not being set, the makers had to approach Madhuri Dixit.

Yes, the actors who were the initial choice were Meenakshi Sheshadri and Aditya Pancholi. Yes, filmmakers originally wanted to cast Meenakshi in the lead role along with Aditya. However, the negotiation for the remuneration for the actress was stuck and as a result, makers had to drop the idea of casting her in the film. After unsuccessful negotiations with Meenakshi Seshadri, the producers approached Madhuri Dixit, who was a new face in the Hindi film industry at that time.

On the other hand, it was Aditya Pancholi who was initially roped in for the lead actor role. However, due to the intervention of Boney Kapoor, Anil was picked as the lead. Despite the makers’ initial choice, the final cast for lead actor and actress was finalised with Madhuri Dixit and Anil Kapoor.

Despite the changes, the pair turned out to be a huge hit and was loved by the audience. Tezaab achieved unprecedented success, breaking box office records and running for a whopping 50 weeks in theatres.

The song ‘Ek Do Teen’ from the film turned out to be a huge hit. Initially, Anil Kapoor had his share of doubts about Madhuri and her dancing skills. However, after the grand success of the film, Anil said that Madhuri looked beautiful in the song. Interestingly, after completing the film, Madhuri was abroad and had no idea how big an impact it had made in India. On her return, she was greeted by a huge crowd at the airport, a clear indication of her newfound stardom and the phenomenal success of Tezaab.
