Anushka says others talking about Virat Kohli’s records, but she’ll remember tears he never showed

Indian cricket star Virat Kohli has announced his retirement from Test cricket. The 36-year-old made the decision public on Monday, ending his journey in the longest and toughest format of the game.

Kohli played 123 Test matches, scoring 9,230 runs with 30 centuries (100s). He had an average of 46.85 and was known not just for his talent, but for his passion and energy on the field.

His wife, Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, shared a heartfelt post on Instagram. She praised his hard work, dedication, and love for Test cricket.

“That’s why only those with a story to tell succeed in Test cricket. A story so long and deep that it doesn’t care for the pitch conditions – grass, dry, home, or away," read Anushka’s story.

Earlier on Monday, she wrote: “They will talk about your records, but I’ll remember the tears you never showed and the battles you fought silently,” she wrote.

“I know how much you gave to this format. You always came back stronger and wiser after every Test series. Watching you grow has been a privilege.”

Anushka also added that although she had imagined he would retire wearing his white Test jersey, she respects his decision to follow his heart.

Virat and Anushka got married in 2017 and have two children – daughter Vamika and son Akaay.

Kohli has already retired from T20 Internationals, and now he will only play in ODIs (One Day Internationals) for India.
