The Bollywood Perfectionist is back: Aamir Khan unveils 'Sitaare Zameen Par' trailer

It’s been 17 years since Ram Shankar Nikumbh, the art teacher at Tulip school, taught us that every child is special. Now Aamir Khan is making his comeback to the big screen with Sitaare Zameen Par. His production house, Aamir Khan Productions, released the trailer across various social media platforms with the caption, ‘1 Tingu Basketball Coach, 10 Toofani Sitaare aur unki journey’.
The trailer features Aamir Khan as a once-celebrated basketball coach, Gulshan, whose career has taken a downturn owing to his harsh attitude and politically incorrect behaviour. After a drunk driving episode gets him in legal trouble, the court assigns him to train a group of individuals with intellectual disabilities for a national-level championship. This new challenge gives life-changing experiences for him and his team ‘Sitaare’.
Directed by R. S Prasanna, the sports drama introduces a fresh set of young talents: Aroush Dutta, Gopi Krishnan Varma, Vedant Sharmaa, Naman Misra, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Sahani, Rishab Jain, Samvit Desai, Simran Mangeshkar, and Aayush Bhansali. The cast also includes actress Genelia Deshmukh, who plays Aamir’s love interest, Dolly Ahluwalia, Gurpal Singh and Brijendra Kala.
A sequel to Taare Zameen Par (2007), the movie is a remake of the Spanish-language film Champions (2018), making it the fourth remake of the film after the Arabic, German, and English-language remakes. Talking to one of his fan clubs in China, Aamir Khan revealed that if Taare Zameen Par made people cry, Sitaare Zameen Par will make people laugh.
He further said “My character Nikumbh, in Taare Zameen Par, was a very sensitive person. In this film, my character’s name is Gulshan, but his personality is the exact opposite of Nikumbh. He is very rude, politically incorrect, and he insults everybody. He is a person with a lot of internal problems”.
Witten by Nidhi Sharma, Sitaare Zameen Par releases on June 20,2025.
