IN PICS: CM Devendra Fadnavis Flags Off Mumbai Metro Line 9 Trial Run; Key Highlights

CM Devendra Fadnavis, along with Deputy CMs Ajit Pawar and Eknath Shinde, flagged off the first technical trial of Mumbai Metro Line 9 on Wednesday.
Metro Line 9 is an elevated extension of Metro Line 7 (Red Line) aimed at enhancing north-south connectivity within the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).
The metro corridor will be opened in two stages. Phase 1 from Dahisar (East) to Kashigaon and Phase 2 from the full line till Mira-Bhayandar once the station work is complete.
According to the MMRDA, 85 per cent of civil work on the corridor is complete. Potential Inauguration by Late 2025.
Authorities suggest the public inauguration of Phase 1 is expected by end-2025, pending successful trial completion and safety clearances.
Metro Line 9 reduces road traffic on the Western Express Highway and also cuts travel time significantly for daily commuters from Thane and Mira-Bhayandar.
The event saw the presence of key political figures, including CM Devendra Fadnavis and DCMs Ajit Pawar and Eknath Shinde, as well as other senior MMRDA officials who supervised the trial run and route inspection.
