Meet woman who cracked NEET, prepared for UPSC exam while working 12-hours night shift, became IAS with AIR… her name is…

Clearing the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test(NEET), one of India’s toughest entrance exams—is a major milestone for any aspiring doctor. After successfully clearing NEET and pursuing an MBBS degree, she set her sights even higher: the prestigious UPSC Civil Services Examination. Well what makes her story so special is not just that she cracked the UPSC, but that she did it while simultaneously studying and practicing medicine. Juggling hospital duties with administrative dreams, she navigated two of the country’s most demanding fields—medicine and civil services—with sheer determination and patience. She is IAS Anjali Garg.

Born on September 14, 1996, in Chandigarh, Dr. Anjali Garg dreamt of becoming a doctor from a very young age. Her education began in Chandigarh, where she excelled in her studies. According to the News18 report, Anjali secured an impressive 96% in her 12th-grade exams and 10 CGPA in the 10th board exam. She completed her 10th and 12th from a local school in Chandigarh. Later, she completed her MBBS from VMMC and Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi.

Coming from a medical background, Anjali Garg initially struggled with new subjects, leading to low mock test scores. However, she quickly revised her strategy, doubling down on her efforts to strengthen her understanding.

As per the NavBharatTimes report, Anjali Garg’s first attempt at the UPSC exam during the Covid-19 pandemic did not succeed. However, she did not give up. In her second attempt in 2022, she cracked the exam with flying colors, securing an impressive 79th rank, earning her the title of an IAS officer.

Anjali chose medical science as her optional subject. Despite working long 12-hour night shifts and attending coaching without proper rest, she made the most of her days for studying. She also faced health challenges, including illness and joint pain, but her determination and hard work ultimately led her to success.

Anjali Garg cleared the UPSC Civil Services(Main) Examination, 2022 with All India Rank(AIR) 79. She scored 822 marks in the written examination, 179 in the personality test. Overall, she scored 1001 marks in the UPSC Civil Services(Main) Examination, 2022.
