From Grief To Glory: Marathwada Girls Rise Above Fathers' Loss To Shine In SSC Results (VIDEO)

In a deeply moving tale of courage, loss and unshakable determination, two young girls from Maharashtra’s suicide-prone Marathwada region have scripted a story of hope and resilience. Durga Kshirsagar and Niyati Ingole share a similar life story - their fathers, who were debt-ridden, died by suicide. However, the two girls overcame unimaginable hardships to shine in the SSC examination. Durga scored a remarkable 86.40%, while Niyati secured 77%. The results were declared on Tuesday. Their achievements go far beyond academic success - these are victories against fate itself.

Both the girls hail from a slum near Ardhapur in Nanded district. They were just six years old when their fathers, crushed under the burden of agricultural debt, ended their lives. Their mothers, uneducated and financially unstable, began working as a farm labourers to feed their children. Amid poverty, trauma and instability, the girls’ future seemed uncertain.

But fate took a turn when Bhoi Pratishthan, a Pune-based non-profit organisation, stepped in. Under their Punya Jagar initiative, the organisation brought the girls to Pune nearly a decade ago, providing them not only shelter and education but a renewed purpose in life. They were enrolled at Astitva Gurukul, a residential school in Veer, Purandar taluka, Pune district, where they were nurtured with care and support. Today, their SSC results are a shining example of what faith, guidance and grit can achieve.

“I used to wonder if I would ever get a chance to study. My father left us too soon, and life seemed full of fear. But Bhoi Pratishthan helped me believe in myself again,” says Durga, who now dreams of becoming an IPS officer. Her friend Niyati, with equal passion, aspires to join the police force.

The success of these two brave girls is not theirs alone; it belongs to every struggling farmer family in Marathwada, where irregular rainfall and mounting loans continue to drive many to despair. Their story is a ray of hope in a region often in the news for its tragedies.

Speaking to The Free Press Journal, Dr Milind Bhoi, CEO, Bhoi Pratishthan said, "Our organisation has brought over 25 children from distressed farming families in Nanded to Pune for holistic education and rehabilitation. Our team continues to stand as pillars of strength for these children, bridging the gap between misfortune and opportunity."
