MCD seals illegal dairies, meat shop

The Shahdara South Zone of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Wednesday sealed two illegal dairies and an unauthorised meat shop in the Mandawali area in a drive against unregulated commercial activities.

“The sealing drive was carried out to enforce compliance with municipal laws. Several other illegal dairies in the area have also been issued notices,” DC Badal Kumar said.

The presence of illegal dairies in residential areas has led to a persistent problem of stray cattle, posing risks to both public safety and hygiene. Residents have frequently raised concerns about cows and buffaloes roaming freely on roads, causing traffic disruptions and accidents.

Officials said that MCD is adopting a stringent approach to such violations and will persist in taking action against individuals or entities that fail to adhere to the regulations.

The corporation emphasised that the drive is part of a broader campaign to regulate local businesses and ensure that food-related trades like dairies and meat shops operate within established legal frameworks. More enforcement actions are expected in the coming weeks as part of this ongoing effort.
