Vikramaditya reviews work on schemes for urban development

sPublic Works Department Minister Vikramaditya Singh today chaired a meeting to assess the progress of various development schemes being implemented by the Urban Development Department in the state.

He said that the timely execution of schemes sponsored by the Central and state governments was being ensured in the 90:10 funding ratio. “The efficient and scheduled implementation of these projects will ensure that the eligible beneficiaries receive the intended benefits and the set targets are achieved within the stipulated time,” he added.

The minister said that the ‘Swach Shehar, Smridh Shehar’ campaign was launched on February 5 this year under which, cleanliness of townships and sustainable development were given impetus along with community participation. Besides, under the Citizen Service Portal, nine essential services were provided to people up to the ward level.

“Under this Campaign, the Sundernagar, Solan, Dharamsala, Jubbal, Jogindernagar, Palampur and Sujanpur urban bodies were ranked amongst the first five towns in the state for adopting cleanliness measures. All nine essential services under the Citizen Service Portal will be received and processed online by June 15, for which necessary directions have been issued,” he added.

Principal Secretary, Urban Development, Devesh Kumar said that the department would also prepare a dedicated incentive-based scheme for the recovery of pending property tax dues. The Urban Development Department would hold consultations with stakeholders to optimise property tax billing and connections and consider the adoption of the Ranchi Model wherever applicable for process enhancement, he added.

The progress made in GIS mapping and property survey was also reviewed.
