Aamir Khan Faces Backlash Over 'Sitaare Zameen Par' Trailer & Operation Sindoor Post

Looks like there's no quick end to Aamir Khan’s troubles. The trailer of his upcoming release 'itaare Zameen Par' was launched on Tuesday evening, marking Aamir’s big return to the silver screen after three years since 'Laal Singh Chaddha'. While there was some anticipation surrounding the film, controversy soon followed.

Aamir Khan's late congratulatory post for Operation Sindoor

The actor found himself at the center of backlash after his production house shared a belated message congratulating the 'heroes of Operation Sindoor' — on the same day the trailer was launched.

Several netizens criticized the timing of the message, pointing out that Aamir had remained silent throughout the duration of the incident. On Tuesday, Aamir Khan Productions took to its official Instagram handle to post a tribute to the Indian armed forces for Operation Sindoor — India’s retaliatory strike against terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir following the Pahalgam terror attack.

“Saluting the heroes of Operation Sindoor. Heartfelt gratitude to our armed forces for their courage, bravery, and unwavering commitment to the security of our nation. Thank you to the Hon'ble Prime Minister for his leadership and resolve. Jai Hind,” the note read.

While many fans appreciated the sentiment, others labeled it “too little, too late,” noting that Operation Sindoor was executed over a week earlier.

#BoycottAamirKhan Trends on X (Formerly Twitter)

By Thursday morning, #BoycottAamirKhan began trending on X (formerly Twitter). One user tweeted,“This 🐍 broke his 'maun vrat' just to promote his movie #SitaareZameenPar.”

Another user posted a screenshot of the production house’s message and wrote,“Because his movie trailer was releasing today, this is what he posted yesterday. Until then, he was completely silent!”

Some reactions were even more scathing. One user wrote,“He hates India. He said he felt unsafe in India. No post after 26 Hindus were massacred. No support for the Indian Army. #BoycottAamirKhan.”

Another shared a poster of Sitaare Zameen Par with the caption:“#NeverForget. Time has come to teach some a lesson! #BoycottTurkey #BoycottAamirKhan.”

Aamir Khan’s Past Statements Resurface

It’s worth noting that Aamir Khan is no longer on social media, and his production house frequently posts on his behalf.

Amid the backlash, some fans came to his defense, pointing out that Aamir had expressed grief over the Pahalgam terror attack, called for justice for the victims, and even cancelled the premiere of the re-release of his cult comedy Andaz Apna Apna as a mark of respect. In public statements, he also reiterated that he had full faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government's actions during the crisis.

Still, the delay in publicly acknowledging Operation Sindoor has raised questions among netizens and triggered a wave of criticism that now threatens to overshadow Sitaare Zameen Par’s release.
