Annamalai To Get New Role In BJP? Here's What Tamil Nadu Party Chief Said

Tamil Nadu BJP President Nainar Nagendran has indicated that former state BJP chief K. Annamalai may soon be entrusted with a new role within the party. Speaking to ANI, Nagendran said, “Former BJP state president Annamalai may be assigned a different responsibility within the party,” sparking speculation about a potential reshuffle or elevation in Annamalai’s political journey.

Earlier, it was speculated that Annamalai would get Rajya Sabha seat from Andhra Pradesh. However, senior party leader P Venkata Satyanarayana was nominated from the seat.

TN Fails To Address Alcohol Addiction: BJP

In a separate statement, Nagendran strongly criticised the state government over what he called a surge in violent crimes across Tamil Nadu. Citing official data, he claimed that crime in the state has increased by 52% compared to the previous year.

Referring to the infamous Pollachi sexual assault case, Nagendran acknowledged that justice had been delivered in that instance but said it was an exception in an otherwise worsening law and order situation.

"The primary cause is alcohol addiction, which the state government has failed to address. The increase in crime is a direct result of the state's negligence. The BJP believes that criminals must be punished, regardless of political affiliation,” he said, as per ANI.
