Updates: Centre Cancels Security Clearance Of Turkish Firm Operating At Indian Airports

India Pakistan News LIVE Updates: Pakistan's nuclear weapons should be brought under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) as they are not safe in such a rogue nation, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on Thursday.

His remarks came days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India would not tolerate "nuclear blackmail" by Pakistan and would punish cross-border terrorism strongly.

"Today, from the land of Srinagar, I want to raise this question before the whole world: are nuclear weapons safe in the hands of such an irresponsible and rogue nation? I believe that Pakistan's nuclear weapons should be taken under the supervision of IAEA," Mr Singh said, as he made his first trip to Jammu & Kashmir since Operation Sindoor.

Meanwhile, Union Civil Aviation Minister K Ram Mohan Naidu, who reviewed the operations of Srinagar airport, said the government would make every effort to bring back tourists to Kashmir, which has witnessed a decrease in footfall of visitors after the Pahalgam terror attack.

On the intervening night of May 7 and 8, India launched Operation Sindoor to target terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, in response to the Pahalgam attack that claimed 26 lives. The operation escalated bilateral tensions as it led to strikes and counter-strikes between the two nations. On Saturday, India and Pakistan reached an agreement to stop all firing and military action on land, air and sea, with effect from 5pm. Pakistan, however, violated the agreement within hours of it coming into effect.
