CICU delegation meets ADCP over safety, security issues
A delegation from the Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU) met with the newly appointed Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-4), Mandeep Singh Sandhu, to extend a warm welcome to him and discussed key issues concerning the industrial fraternity of Ludhiana.
The delegation was led by CICU president Upkar Singh Ahuja and included office-bearers Honey Sethi, general secretary JS Bhogal, organising secretary Sanjay Dhiman, vice-president Didarjit Singh Lotey and vice-president Parmvir Singh.
The key issues discussed in the meeting were:
Industrial security: The delegation highlighted increasing concerns among manufacturers and exporters over security challenges, particularly in industrial clusters. CICU requested enhanced vigilance to deter thefts and trespassing during night hours.
Labour safety on salary days: CICU urged the police department to ensure patrolling around factory premises and financial hubs on salary disbursement days, to safeguard workers from potential snatching and criminal activities.
Enhanced patrolling in dark zones: The members requested for consistent patrolling in poorly lit or deserted stretches within Focal Point, especially during early morning and late night hours, which are vulnerable to anti-social activities.
Quick response mechanism: CICU proposed establishing a streamlined communication channel between industry representatives and local police stations for real-time alerts and emergency response.
ADCP (Zone 4) Mandeep Singh Sandhu assured the CICU team that their concerns were valid and would be addressed on priority basis. He reiterated the police department’s commitment to fostering a safe industrial environment, which is crucial for Ludhiana’s economic progress. “The suggestions and recommendations provided by CICU will be treated with the highest level of seriousness, and collaborative efforts will be made to improve safety standards,” he stated.
