Released 23 years ago, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha continues to be one of Sunny Deol’s blockbuster films. The narrative portrays a passionate story between Sunny Deol’s character, Tara Singh, and Ameesha Deol’s character, Sakeena. Following its success, the makers released its sequel, Gadar 2: The Katha Continues, which made history by earning more than Rs 600 crore worldwide.
While the film is till date etched in audiences hearts, Gadar also had a very memorable character of Darmiyan Singh, which was portrayed by Vivek Shauq. He portrayed Sunny Deol’s best friend in the film, and their lovely camaraderie garnered immense love from the viewers.
Acting Career
Vivek rose to popularity after his terrific performance in Gadar. The actor, who began his journey from television, later on shifted his focus to doing Punjabi and Hindi films. He made his Bollywood debut with Barsaat Ki Raat in 1998, and following that did some notable films like Delhi Heights, Aitraaz, 36 China Town, Hum Ko Deewana Kar Gaye, Asa Nu Maan Watna Da, Dil Hai Tumhaara, Mini Punjab, and Nalaik.
Early Life
Born on June 21, 1963, in Chandigarh, Vivek’s parents passed away in 1980s. He completed his education from Indo-Swiss Training Centre (ISTC).
Death
From Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor to Shahid Kapoor, Vivek worked with several superstars, and created an impact with his impeccable performances. His life took a tragic turn when he suffered a heart attack on January 3, 2011. He was admitted to Jupiter Hospital in Thane. Despite massive medical support, he couldn’t recover and slipped into coma.
On January 10, 2011, Vivek passed away at 47 due to sepsis. His funeral was held on January 11, 2011, at the Sant Nirankari Mission. Following his death, there were reports that he died due to liposuction surgery, because of which he suffered cardiac arrest.
