Bihar News: Congress MP Tariq Anwar Clarifies Chidambaram’s Remarks, Says INDIA Bloc United & Strong (VIDEO)

Patna: Congress MP Tariq Anwar on Friday asserted that senior party leader and former union minister P Chidambaram’s statement on the “staying power of the INDIA bloc and about BJP`s formidable machinery” should not be taken as his criticism, but as his advice to the opposition alliance for self-introspection.

Underplaying Chidambaram`s remarks during his interaction with newspersons in Katihar, Anwar said that he had full faith in the grand alliance, a part of INDIA bloc, adding that that the opposition alliance was fully united, active and also with the people. People will cast their votes on issues like price rise, unemployment and social inequality, he added.

Chidambaram’s statement has come at a time when the assembly elections are scheduled in October-November.

“No unnecessary controversy should be made out of the views of senior leaders like Chidambaram. An organisation is strengthened through dialogue and criticism. His statement is not criticism, but advice for self-introspection, as it should be considered as part of the party`s democratic structure,” he added.

“Grand Alliance is set to win the assembly election as a wave of change is sweeping the state,” he added.

Congress MP Anwar said that there could be some shortcomings in the alliance in some states or regions but that did not imply the alliance was not united across the country. “In Bihar, the grand alliance is in a strong position and workers’ enthusiasm and dedication are clearly visible on the ground,” he added.
