19 hurt as bus overturns in Arki subdivision
Passengers of an HRTC bus (HP 03B 6202) had a narrow escape this morning when the vehicle overturned after ramming into a hillside near Sheelghat in the Arki subdivision. The accident occurred around 8.30 am while the bus was en route to Shimla.
Nineteen passengers were injured in the mishap, though none are reported to be in critical condition.
According to Darlaghat Deputy Superintendent of Police Sandeep Sharma, the exact cause of the accident is yet to be determined.
However, based on the initial statement of the driver, a pressure pipe burst led to the loss of control.
In an attempt to avoid a major disaster, the driver deliberately steered the bus into the hillside, which caused it to overturn.
The Darlaghat SHO and police personnel rushed to the site upon receiving the information.
Ambulances were dispatched promptly to transport the injured to the Civil Hospital in Arki. Among the injured, three to four passengers sustained head injuries and are under medical observation.
