Swift action, public feedback in focus at key Panchkula police meet

Commissioner of Police Sibash Kabiraj chaired a key review meeting at his Mansa Devi office to strengthen crime control across the district.

Attended by senior officials including DCPs Himadri Kaushik and Amit Dahiya, along with ACPs and crime and traffic branch heads, the meeting focused on crime prevention, law and order, women’s safety, and drug eradication.

Kabiraj instructed officers to act on complaints within 15 days, with complainant feedback used to evaluate investigating officers’ performance. He warned station in-charges to ensure personal accountability and continuous monitoring.

All four law and order companies—Alpha, Bravo, Charlie and Delta—have been directed to stay alert with riot-control equipment and receive regular training. Tear-gas-trained personnel and SWAT teams will be specially deployed.

To enhance women’s safety, the Commissioner ordered the deployment of female officers at 58 identified hotspots and along nine bus routes. In POCSO and other crimes against women, victims must be counselled by female inspectors from the beginning of the investigation, with regular feedback.

Kabiraj stressed that smart policing is as important as hard work. Officers were directed to be alert at checkpoints and monitor suspicious activity closely. Miscreants and habitual offenders are to be watched closely, with riders ensuring routine patrols in all areas.

On extortion, Kabiraj announced that all involved are being identified and will face strict action. Bail jumpers are to be tracked, and crime branch in-charges have been tasked with ongoing surveillance of offenders.

Under the “My Drug-Free and Violence-Free Village, My Pride” campaign, drug addicts are to be identified and provided counselling and medical aid. Drug hotspots will be mapped, and tough action taken against traffickers.

The Commissioner also issued instructions to curb vehicle theft and snatching. He emphasised that all directives must be effectively implemented, warning of strict action against non-compliant officers.

The meeting included ACPs Sukar Pal Singh, Arvind Kamboj, Surendra Singh, Dinesh Kumar, Ashish Kumar, Vikram Nehra, Ajit Singh, traffic in-charges, crime branch heads and other senior officials.
