BIG blow for Delhi Capitals before IPL 2025 playoffs, Mukesh Kumar and Karun Nair gets ruled out due to…
New Delhi: Delhi Capitals have been dealt a huge blow as two of their important players, Karun Mair and Mukesh Kumar, have been picked in the India A squad for the upcoming tour of England, potentially missing out on the IPL 2025 playoff stage.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) named an 18-player India A squad to play England Lions in a three-match, four-day series beginning May 30 in Canterbury. Abhimanyu Easwaran will lead the team, which features players such as Yashasvi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Harshit Rana, and Sarfaraz Khan.
Karun Nair and Mukesh Kumar, both Delhi Capitals players for IPL 2025, are included in the team and were anticipated to contribute significantly to their playoff bid.
India A’s potential qualification for the national team could deplete Delhi Capitals’ roster for the IPL playoffs, which start May 29th, creating a scheduling conflict.
Several IPL franchises, besides Delhi, face difficult player selection decisions. The availability of India A players like Harshit Rana (KKR), Akash Deep, and Shardul Thakur (LSG) for potential playoff matches is uncertain, depending on their teams’ advancement.
The late-stage tournament uncertainty has been compounded by this recent development, making it more difficult for team managers to select their optimal playing XI.
India A squad:
Abhimanyu Easwaran (C), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Karun Nair, Dhruv Jurel (VC & WK), Nitish Kumar Reddy, Shardul Thakur, Ishan Kishan (WK), Manav Suthar, Tanush Kotian, Mukesh Kumar, Akash Deep, Harshit Rana, Anshul Kamboj, Khaleel Ahmed, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sarfaraz Khan, Tushar Deshpande, Harsh Dubey.
