This actor’s popularity is not less than Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, father was a Pakistani, never talks about him, name is…

Tabu has been in the industry for over four decades now. She has given some of the most memorable performances over the years and continues to stay relevant till date. Tabu has shared screen-space with almost every superstar of Hindi cinema, including, Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn.

Born in a Muslim family in Hyderabad, Tabu’s real name is Tabassum Fatima Hashmi. She is the daughter of Jamal Ali Hashmi, the late Pakistani actor, who returned to India to live with Tabu’s mother Rizwana. When Tabu was 3-years-old, her father decided to leave the family for another woman and had two more daughters with his second wife.

After divorce, Rizwana with her daughters, Tabu and Farah, came back to her parent’s house and raised her children as a single parent. Once reminiscing her childhood days on Simi Garewal’s talk show, Rendezvous with Simi Garewal, Tabu recalled, “I had a great childhood, we lived in Hyderabad all our lives, I lived with my grandparents (mother’s parents) after my parents divorced. My mum was a teacher and so I ended up spending more time with her mother, and my grandmother would pray and read books, and I grew up with that. I was very timid, I did not have a voice, in fact even after becoming a heroine, an actor, I did not have a voice.”

When asked about her father, the actress said that she had no memories of him, and never felt like using his surname ‘Hashmi.’ “I never really used it, I never thought it was important for me to use my father’s surname, it was always Tabassum Fatima, which was my middle name. In school, Fatima was my surname. I have no memories of him. My sister has met him on occasion, but I have never really felt like meeting him. I am not curious about him, I am happy the way I am, the way I have grown up. I am very settled in my own life.” Tabu said.

Meanwhile, Tabu was last seen in Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha (2024). Starring Ajay Devgn, the film was a commercial failure at the box office.
