Srinagar Police Book 23 Terror Associates, Miscreants Under Public Safety Act, Shifted To Jails Across J-K
In a significant operation against elements deemed inimical to national security and public order, the Srinagar Police have booked 23 individuals—comprising terror associates linked to proscribed outfits and miscreants involved in public disturbances—under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA). The detainees have been shifted to various jails across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, including District Jails in Poonch, Udhampur, and Kot Bhalwal, Jammu.
According to a statement by Srinagar Police, formal detention orders were issued by the District Magistrate Srinagar based on dossiers prepared against the individuals. Despite facing multiple criminal cases and having secured bail previously, the police said the individuals “did not mend their ways” and continued engaging in “disturbance of public order, criminal and subversive activities against the Nation.”
The 23 individuals booked under PSA have been identified as:
1. Saqib Shafi Wani, son of Mohammad Shafi Wani, resident of Baghi Sunder Bala Chattabal, Srinagar.
2. Waleed Aijaz Sheikh alias Waleed, son of Aijaz Ahmad Sheikh, resident of New Colony, Batmaloo.
3. Hashim Farooq Mir, son of Farooq Ahmad Mir, resident of Ikhrajpora Rajbagh, Srinagar.
4. Sayar Ahmad Sheikh alias Sahil, son of Bilal Ahmad Sheikh, resident of New Colony Batamaloo.
5. Tawseef Ahmad Khan, son of Showkat Ahmad Khan, resident of Firdous Abad Batmaloo - Lane No. 15.
6. Showkat Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar, resident of Dooha Mohalla Nishat, Srinagar.
7. Ali Mohammad Rather alias Ali Pakistani, son of Ghulam Rasool Rather, resident of Malfuk Hazratbal, Srinagar.
8. Owais Farooq Lone, son of Farooq Ahmad Lone, resident of Batagund Tral, presently at Maisuma, Srinagar.
9. Musaib Ahmad Khan, son of Ghulam Nabi Khan, resident of Sector 07-Hamdania Colony, Bemina.
10. Feroz Ahmad Najar, son of Ali Mohammad Najar, resident of Chandipora Harwan, Srinagar.
11. Shabir Ahmad Ghulam, son of Mohammad Sadiq Ghulam, resident of Bagiyas, Srinagar.
12. Sajid Shahnawaz Mir alias Patrole, son of Shahnawaz Ahmad Mir, resident of Firdous Abad, Batmaloo.
13. Numan Qayoom Ganie, son of Abdul Qayoom Ganie, resident of Methan Chanpora, Srinagar.
14. Owais Altaf Bhat, son of Mohammad Altaf Bhat, resident of Padshahibagh, Srinagar.
15. Junaid Zahoor Bangroo, son of Zahoor Ahmad Bangroo, resident of Malik Angan, Fatehkadal, Srinagar.
16. Muzaffar Farooq Mir alias Muzaffar, son of Farooq Ahmad Mir, resident of Dangerpora, Shahzadpora Kanpora, Budgam.
17. Uneeb Naseer Mir, son of Naseer Mir, resident of Dangerpora, Shahzadpora Kanpora, Budgam.
18. Irfan Ahmad Seeru alias Irfan, son of late Mohammad Shaban Seeru, resident of Khankhal Sokhta, Nawakadal, Srinagar.
19. Fahad Bashir Sidique alias Umar Kochwa, son of Bashir Ahmad Sidqui, resident of Akilmir, Khanyar, Srinagar.
20. Zubair Ahmad Lone, son of Manzoor Ahmad Lone, resident of Saidapora, Eidgah, Srinagar.
21. Faizan Yaseen Sheikh, son of Mohammad Yaseen Sheikh, resident of Kaka Sahab, Jamalatta.
22. Ibrahim Rashid Ganie alias Gopi alias Umar, son of Abdul Rashid Ganie, resident of Moomina Abad Lane 05, Batmaloo, Srinagar.
23. Abdul Hamid Ganie, son of Ghulam Qadir Ganie, resident of New Theed, Harwan, Srinagar.
Dismantling Anti-National And Anti-Social Infrastructure In Srinagar City: Police
Highlighting the ongoing efforts to uproot anti-national activities in the city, the Jammu and Kashmir Police said, “We have been systematically targeting and dismantling such anti-national and anti-social infrastructure in Srinagar city through relentless crackdown on such elements.”
The police further cautioned individuals engaged in unlawful or disruptive activities, stating, “The long arm of law would catch them sooner than anticipated and every offender will face justice.”
