Girls shine in Class XII results, pass percentage improves to 83.16

Girls outshone boys and bagged more top positions in the Class XII examination, the results of which were declared by the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education here today. Of the total 86,373 students, who had appeared in the exam, 71,591 were declared pass. The pass percentage this year is 83.16 per cent compared to 74.5 per cent in 2024 and 79.6 per cent in 2023.

Mehak, a student of DR Public Senior Secondary School at Gagret in Una district, topped the Class XII exams in the science stream, scoring 486 out of 500 marks (97.2 per cent). Mehak is also the overall topper. Payal Sharma, a student of Government Senior Secondary School at Chanour Dadasiba in Kangra district, topped the commerce stream scoring 482 marks while Ankita of Government Senior Secondary School at Rait in Shahpur tehsil of Kangra district topped the arts stream scoring 483 marks.

Hemraj Bairwa, Chairman of the education board, accompanied by Major Vishal Sharma (retd), declared the results and expressed happiness over the improvement in the pass percentage over the past years. Of the 75 students who secured top 10 positions, there were 61 girls. Unlike the Class X exam results, the performance of students of government schools was on a par with private schools this year. Of the 75 students, who bagged the top 10 positions, 40 were from government schools and 35 from private schools.

Khushi of Dhauladhar Public Senior Secondary School at Shamnagar in Dharamsala, Jahnavi Thakur of Bharati Vidyapeeth Public Senior Secondary School, Baijnath, and Ankita of Government Senior Secondary School at Rait Shahpur in Kangra district bagged the second position by scoring 483 marks.

Kanika of Bharatiya Vidyapeeth Public Senior Secondary School, Baijnath; Palak Thakur of Government Model Senior Secondary School at Ambota in Una; Navneet Kaur of Sunrise Public Senior Secondary School at Saloh in Una; Kanak Sharma of ST DR Public Senior Secondary School at Gagret in Una district; Krish Lahoria of The New Era School of Sciences in Chhatri tehsil of Chamba; Payal Sharma of Government Senior Secondary School at Chanour Dadasiba in Kangra; and Riya Rangra of Bharati Vidyapeeth Public Senior Secondary School, Baijnath, stood third with 482 marks each.
