BJP MLAs meet JMC Commissioner for comprehensive review of civic issues

JAMMU, May 17: A comprehensive review meeting was held today with Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Commissioner Dr. Devansh Yadav and senior officials from various departments to discuss a wide range of issues related to drinking water, electricity, urban development, sanitation, infrastructure and public welfare.
The meeting witnessed the presence of BJP MLAs representing different constituencies of Jammu. These included Sham Lal Sharma (Jammu North), Narinder Singh (RS Pura – Jammu South), Yudhvir Sethi (Jammu East), Vikram Randhawa (Bahu), Arvind Gupta (Jammu West), and Surinder Kumar (Marh). Each legislator shared valuable suggestions and insights aimed at the comprehensive development of their respective areas.
The discussions revolved around the current status and ongoing work related to water supply, power distribution, smart city projects, and the maintenance and improvement of urban infrastructure. Particular attention was given to ensuring efficient sanitation services and solid waste management across all wards.
The meeting also prioritized the completion of all ponds under the Amrit Sarovar scheme, recognizing their importance in water conservation, groundwater recharge, and local ecology.
In preparation for the upcoming Monsoon season, the review emphasized the need for timely repairs and strengthening of the drainage systems to prevent water logging and related civic issues. The MLAs also highlighted the importance of proper street lighting and the repair of damaged lights to enhance public safety.
Special focus was placed on the repair and beautification of all existing parks to provide clean and pleasant recreational spaces for the community. Additionally, the MLAs stressed the importance of thorough sanitation of all drainage systems to prevent water stagnation and avoid diseases commonly caused by unhygienic conditions during the Monsoon.
The MLAs expressed the need for continuous monitoring and citizen feedback mechanisms to improve service delivery and quickly address emerging urban issues. They emphasized that a participative approach involving residents will lead to better governance and sustainable urban development.
Further, the importance of leveraging technology and smart city initiatives was discussed to streamline Municipal services and enhance transparency. The leaders urged the JMC to explore innovative solutions for efficient waste management, water conservation, and energy usage.
Sanitation was a key focus area, with the leaders stressing the deployment of adequate sanitation workers to maintain cleanliness and hygiene.
The BJP MLAs collectively urged the Commissioner and his team to accelerate the pace of work, ensure transparency, and adopt a citizen-centric approach in governance.
The meeting concluded with a unified resolve to continue regular reviews and strengthen efforts to enhance the quality of urban life for the people of Jammu through efficient and accountable civic administration.
