Madhya Pradesh: Youth Killed, Two Injured in Jabalpur Stabbing Over Long-Standing Dispute
Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): A long-standing dispute turned into a fatal altercation in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur, where three youths were stabbed – one was killed and two others were severely injured.
The violence unfolded in the Sarra Peepal New Basti area under Ranjhi police station late on Friday night around 3 am.
Here, 4 assailants identified as Hemant Tiwari, Abhishek Francis, Martin Anna, and Manoj Tiwari, allegedly attacked the 3 victims with swords and knives, leaving them severely injured.
Sumit Chaudhary, one of the victims, sustained serious injuries and later died during treatment at the medical college hospital.
Accused hurled caste-based slurs
According to one of the victims, Gurcharan Chaudhary, the incident sparked when local resident Gurcharan Mahobia stepped outside after hearing loud arguments in the street. He was allegedly attacked with caste-based slurs and then assaulted by the accused. When Sumit and Shubham Chaudhary rushed to Gurcharan's aid, they too were attacked. Sumit fell unconscious due to the injuries.
All three injured youths managed to reach the Ranjhi police station and were later referred to the medical college from the local hospital. Despite efforts, Sumit could not survive.
Victim’s family levels allegations
Victim's brother Abhay Chaudhary leveled serious accusations against the police, alleging gross negligence. According to them, the accused had attacked their house with a petrol bomb just eight days earlier, but even after filing a complaint, the police took no action. Shockingly, the family claims they rushed to the police station during the latest attack, but were sent back with the excuse that no staff was available.
According to Ranjhi police station Sub-inspector Balbir Singh, police have registered a case against all four accused under charges of murder, the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. A search operation is currently underway to locate the suspects.
Sumit’s family holds the police accountable for his death, saying timely action could have saved his life.
