PM Modi to virtually inaugurate renovated railway station on May 22

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate buildings and platforms of Baijnath-Paprola railway satiation on May 22 through virtual mode. The Rs 7-crore facelift project is in the final stages.

The railway station has been renovated under the Amrit Bharat Yojana, launched by the PM last year. Kangra MP Rajiv Bhardwaj and Rajya Sabha member Indu Goswami will be present when PM Modi will virtually inaugurate the renovated railway station. Baijnath MLA Kishori Lal would represent the state government.

Speaking to the media in Baijnath today, Vivek Kumar, Division Manager, Railways (Jammu Division), said the Baijnath-Paprola was among 554 railway stations across the country, which had undergone facelift. Construction of platforms, buildings, over bridges, parking lots and better facilities for passengers had been undertaken as part of the project, he said.

The official said the Baijnath-Paprola station had been redeveloped as per the world-class standards and it would significantly boost the state’s tourism industry, attracting more visitors to Shiv Bhoomi Baijnath.

He said the Indian Railways was giving special focus to the development and beautification of the Pathankot-Jogindernagar rail track. As soon as the bridge over the Chakki river was complete, the railways would restore all the seven trains up and down on the track. He admitted that it was not possible for the railways to start all seven trains between Nurpur and Baijnath because of a number of bottlenecks and technical issues.

He stated that construction of a bridge on the Chakki river, which was washed away in 2022 during the monsoon season, was going on full swing and was likely to be completed before December 2025. He added that the railways would also introduce new coaches on the track once the train services were restored between Pathankot and Jogindernagar.
