400 Chamba schools adopted under ‘Apna Vidyalaya Yojana’
Under the ‘Apna Vidyalaya Yojana’ being implemented as part of the Himachal School Adoption Programme, nearly 400 schools in the Chamba district have been adopted so far—covering approximately 25% of the total schools in the district.
Senior district officials, including Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal, Additional Deputy Commissioner Amit Mehra, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Civil) Priyanshu Khati and Assistant Commissioner PP Singh, have each adopted schools under the initiative. Additionally, Deputy Director (Higher Education) Bhag Singh, Deputy Director (Primary Education) Balbir Singh, OSD (Primary Education) Umakant Anand, along with several principals, headmasters, block education officers and officials from various departments have also joined the movement by adopting schools.
Deputy Directors Bhag Singh and Balbir Singh emphasised that the aim of the ‘Apna Vidyalaya Yojana’ is not only to enhance the quality of education but also to build confidence and motivation among students so that they grow into responsible and successful citizens.
He appealed to all district officials, employees, public representatives and organisations to voluntarily adopt schools and share their insights and experiences with students.
Individuals from various fields such as sports, skill development, career counseling, arts and crafts, painting, music, and dance are encouraged to get involved and inspire students through their engagement.
Anyone can contribute by sponsoring meals through the mid-day meal scheme or supporting sports and extracurricular competitions financially or otherwise. For more details, interested individuals can contact the concerned block education officers or block project officers in their areas.
The initiative is rapidly gaining momentum in Chamba and is seen as a community-driven step toward improving educational standards and student development across the district, Singh said.
