Rider succumbs to injuries after tree falls on Scooty
In a tragic accident near Bhatta on the Jogindernagar-Sarkaghat road in Jogindernagar subdivision of Mandi district yesterday, a man was critically injured after a tree suddenly fell on his moving Scooty. He succumbed to his injuries today while undergoing treatment at the Tanda Medical College.
The victim, Rajmal Thakur (43), a resident of Chhaprot village, was employed as a fourth-class worker at Bassi School. He was on his way to school for night duty when a roadside tree fell on his Scooty during a heavy storm.
The impact left Rajmal trapped beneath the fallen tree. Local residents and passersby quickly rushed to his aid, pulling him out and transporting him to the Jogindernagar Civil Hospital with the assistance of a 108 ambulance. After giving first aid, the victim was referred to the Tanda Medical College, where doctors found severe injuries on his head. Despite medical efforts, the victim died due to severity of his wounds.
Bassi police station in-charge Suresh Kumar confirmed that the authorities had received information about Rajmal’s demise from the Tanda Medical College. He said a post-mortem would be conducted at the same hospital, after which the body would be handed over to family of the deceased following legal procedures.
