Maharana Pratap’s statue unveiled at Nandan Park

A grand ceremony was held today at Nandan Park, Palampur, to unveil a statue of the legendary Rajput warrior Maharana Pratap. The event, organized by the Municipal Corporation Palampur in collaboration with the Rajput Kalyan Sabha, marked the culmination of a month-long celebration of Maharana Pratap’s birth anniversary.

The statue was unveiled by Education Minister Rohit Thakur, who attended as the chief guest. The ceremony also saw the presence of Palampur MLA Ashish Butail, former Vidhan Sabha Speaker Brij Bihari Lal Butail, Mayor Gopal Naag, and other dignitaries.

In his address, Minister Thakur paid heartfelt tribute to Maharana Pratap’s indomitable courage, patriotism, and unwavering dedication to his values. “Maharana Pratap’s life teaches us the importance of standing firm in the face of adversity. His ideals are timeless and must be instilled in the younger generation,” he said.

He also lauded Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s vision and the state government’s commitment to preserving the cultural and historical heritage of Himachal Pradesh. The minister highlighted that under the Congress-led government over the past two years, significant attention has been given to renovating statues and memorials of national heroes and martyrs that had previously been neglected.

Referring to Palampur’s proud legacy, Minister Thakur recalled the sacrifices of local heroes like Captain Vikram Batra, Captain Saurabh Kalia, and Major Sudhir Walia, who laid down their lives for the nation’s integrity and sovereignty.

In a key announcement, the Education Minister declared a grant of Rs 25 lakh for the upgradation of the Rajput Sabha Bhawan. He stated that the funds would be used to enhance infrastructure and improve facilities to support the Sabha’s cultural and community initiatives.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the local community, with cultural performances and tributes that honored Maharana Pratap’s enduring legacy. The ceremony concluded with a shared sense of pride and commitment to uphold the values embodied by the iconic warrior.
