The film hit Indian theatres on May 17 in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. It is scheduled to release in American theatres on May 23. The film is setting new box office records, surpassing several Bollywood movies in terms of earnings.
It is the 8th and possibly final film in the franchise. The film made Rs 16.5 crore on its first Saturday and around Rs 16.5 crore on its first Sunday, taking its total collection to Rs 33 crore.
According to media reports, advance booking for the Hindi version of the film has outperformed many recent Bollywood releases.

Tom Cruise returns as Ethan Hunt in the movie. Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, the movie also stars Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby, Pom Klementieff, Shea Whigham, Angela Bassett, Esai Morales, Henry Czerny, Holt McCallany, Nick Offerman and Greg Tarzan Davis.
