IPL 2025: Mohammed Shami Meets UP CM Yogi Adityanath In His Residence, Receives Some Gifts Ahead Of LSG vs SRH Clash; Video
Team India and SunRisers Hyderabad pacer Mohammed Shami met Uttar Pradesh's Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in his residence in Lucknow on May 19 (Monday) ahead of the match against the Lucknow Super Giants. Shami was seen receiving a couple of gifts from the politician as a video of the same surfaced on social media.
Shami was contracted by the SunRisers during the IPL 2025 auction held last year in Saudi Arabia, fetching a hefty ₹10 crore. However, the right-arm pacer's returns have been underwhelming, managing only six wickets in nine matches at 56.16 alongside maintaining an economy rate of 11.23.

"He started playing domestic cricket last year and this is May already" - Aakash Chopra on Mohammed Shami's form
A couple of weeks ago, former Indian opener Aakash Chopra raised questions on Shami's poor display in IPL and suspected that it might be something to do with his injury. Chopra stated, as quoted by ESPN Cricinfo:
"That's a big question there, no, because it's not like he came back from an injury last week or last month. He started playing domestic cricket last year and this is May already. He's played an ICC event in between. He's played a lot of games. If he's still off the boil, and that has something to do with the injury - and we're all assuming that it is - then there is a serious question mark with regards to what happens next."
Shami is likely to be picked for the five-Test tour of England.
