'Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning' opens to a strong start at Indian box office

Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning debuted strongly at the Indian box office, grossing 33 cr within two days. The film hit Indian theatres on May 17 (in English, Telugu, and Hindi Languages), a full week before its U.S. release on May 23. The figures indicate that Indian audiences have warmly welcomed this epic American spy thriller.

After debuting at Rs 16.5 cr on Saturday, the film held steady on Sunday with another Rs 16.5 cr (early estimate), making 33 cr in just two days. The film recorded occupancy rates throughout the day with around 41.84% from the English version, 25.28% from the Hindi version, 19.44% from the Telugu version, and 51.25% from the Tamil version, according to Sacnilk. 

The movie continues to draw huge audiences, particularly in English 2D screenings, which had high occupancy rates throughout the day: 28.93% in the morning, 49.53% in the afternoon, 51.70% in the evening, and 37.18% at night. Morning shows accounted for 13.36%, afternoon shows for 31.22%, evening shows for 33.06%, and night shows for 23.48% of total Hindi (2D) theatre occupancy. Morning shows: 13.79%, Afternoon shows: 21.98%, evening shows: 21.23%, and night shows: 20.74% were the officially recorded occupancy rates in Telugu (2D) theatres. Morning shows: 37.27%, afternoon shows: 63.46%, evening shows: 60.77%, and Night shows: 43.49% were the recorded rates of occupancy in Tamil (2D) theatres.

In 2025, it is currently the highest-grossing Hollywood film in India, surpassing recent releases Marvel's Captain America: Brave New World (₹4.2 crore) and Thunderbolts (₹3.8 cr). It has also surpassed recent Hindi movies, such as Akshay Kumar's Kesari 2 (₹7.5 cr) and Sunny Deol's Jaat (₹9.50 cr). In India, A Minecraft Movie earned ₹ 2 cr, while Disney's Snow White scored over ₹65 L.

Christopher McQuarrie directed Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, a sequel to Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One (2023), in which Tom Cruise, Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Henry Czerny, and Angela Bassett reprise their original roles.
