If you have a Rs 20 note, this news is for you. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced that a new Rs 20 note will soon be introduced in the market. This new note will have the signature of the current RBI Governor, Sanjay Malhotra.
How New Rs 20 Note Look Like?
According to the RBI, the new Rs 20 note will be part of a fresh series. However, its design and features will be almost similar to the current Rs 20 note. The primary changes will include the Governor’s signature and some additional enhancements.
The new Rs 20 note will have a greenish-yellow color and a size of 63mm x 129mm. The reverse side of the note will have an image of the Ellora Caves which shows India’s rich cultural heritage.
- The front and back will have the denomination “20” printed in floral patterns.
- The number “20” will also appear in Devanagari script.
- The note will include the text RBI, भारत, India, and the numeral “20” in micro-letters.
- It will also have Mahatma Gandhi’s portrait, the Ashoka Pillar emblem, the Swachh Bharat logo, and a language panel.
- The Governor’s signature, guarantee clause, and the RBI emblem will be on the front side to check authenticity and security.
Will Old Rs 20 Notes Be Discontinued?
No. The RBI has clarified that all existing Rs 20 notes will remain legal tender. You can continue to use them as usual. The introduction of the new notes will not render the older ones invalid.
The RBI’s objective is to provide citizens with better-quality, more secure currency notes. The enhanced security features in the new Rs 20 note is to reduce the risk of counterfeit currency.
