Anupam Kher ‘overwhelmed’ by Cannes response to ‘Tanvi the Great’: ‘I am deeply touched and humbled’

Anupam Kher is basking in praise following the release of his directorial Tanvi the Great, at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. According to reports, the film garnered immense applause—an accepted indicator of how well the film was received during its screening at the film festival.

Taking to his social media platforms, Kher described he was “overwhelmed” by the audience response during Saturday’s premiere. “People from different countries came and when they say that this film will go very far, then we keep our fingers crossed and say Om Namah Shivaay,” he said.
He captioned the video, “I am deeply touched and humbled by the emotional response of the audiences from all countries last night at the #WorldPremiere of #TanviTheGreat. They all said it has a universal theme and it touched their heart [sic].”
He further mentioned that the audience lauded the musical composition of M. M. Keeravani, who won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for RRR’s Nattu Nattu. In an earlier statement to PTI, the Kher said, "Having Oscar-winner M. M. Keeravani bring this story to life with his musical genius has been a true blessing. His artistry has elevated Tanvi The Great in ways I had only dreamt of.”

The film chronicles the journey of Tanvi, eager to salute the Indian flag at the Siachen Glacier, to fulfill her the dream of her late father, who served in the Indian Army. Tanvi the Great stars Kher as Col. Pratap Raina, debutant Shubhangi Dutt as titular character Tanvi, Game of Thrones actor Iain Glen, Boman Irani, Jackie Shroff, Aravind Swami, and Pallavi Joshi.
Tanvi the Great will hit theatres on July 18.
