BJP Calls Rahul Gandhi 'Modern Age Mir Jafar', Accuses Congress Leader For 'Aiding Pakistan’s Propaganda' After Remarks On Operation Sindoor
New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday, May 19, launched a scathing attack on Congress MP Rahul Gandhi over his criticism of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, accusing him of amplifying Pakistan’s propaganda and undermining national security.
In an X post on Tuesday, May 2, BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya called him the “modern age Mir Jafar”, claiming his comments are being used by Pakistani media to build a false narrative around Operation Sindoor.
Have a look at it here:
Malviya called out Gandhi for questioning the number of Indian aircraft lost in Operation Sindoor, despite the Defence Ministry already briefing the media on the issue. Posting a clip from a Pakistani news channel using Gandhi’s remarks, he wrote, “This isn’t new. In the past as well, the Pakistani establishment has gleefully cited Rahul Gandhi’s statements... His words repeatedly serve as cover for those who sponsor cross-border terrorism.”
Malviya also alleged that Gandhi’s refusal to acknowledge India’s military achievements while fixating on losses was aligned with Pakistan’s messaging. “Rahul Gandhi is the modern age Mir Jafar,” he said, questioning whether political ambition should come at the cost of national duty.
Further, Malviya pointed out that Gandhi had never once asked how many Pakistani jets were shot down or destroyed in the operation, adding, “What’s next for Rahul Gandhi? The Nishan-e-Pakistan?”
BRS Also Targets Rahul Gandhi Over Remarks
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader Dr. Krishank also criticised Rahul Gandhi, stating that his comments served to fuel Pakistan’s misinformation efforts. He questioned why Gandhi, as Leader of the Opposition, did not raise his concerns in an all-party meeting instead of airing them publicly on X.
“Do continue to ask questions, Rahul ji, but at the right time, right place so that it strengthens Indian voices, not its Opponents,” he said.
Meanwhile, Gandhi doubled down on his attack, claiming the government had informed Pakistan "at the start" of Operation Sindoor, which is a statement previously refuted by the government’s Press Information Bureau (PIB).
