Breaking News: Ahmedabad Takes Strong Action Against Illegal Settlements, Bulldozer Drive Underway

In a major operation, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has intensified its crackdown on illegal Bangladeshi immigrants residing in the area. Reports indicate that nearly 1,000 illegal Bangladeshi nationals had been living in the locality without proper authorization. As part of the action, numerous illegal constructions are being demolished, and the authorities have detained several individuals for deportation. The operation, which began with the eviction of over 1 lakh square meters of land, has now entered its second phase. The city police, under the guidance of senior officers, have provided adequate security arrangements to prevent any law and order issues. The municipal corporation has ensured that the eviction process remains peaceful and orderly. Earlier, a petition was filed in the High Court, challenging the demolition and alleging violations of legal processes. However, the High Court dismissed the petition, allowing the action to proceed. The petitioners had argued that there was no evidence to prove that the residents were Bangladeshi nationals. However, following an extensive police operation, over 800 people were detained, and it was revealed that around 100 of them were confirmed to be Bangladeshis. The bulldozer action continues with 75 bulldozers deployed to remove encroachments, as part of the ongoing "Atikraman Hatav" (Encroachment Removal) campaign in Ahmedabad.
