Jyoti Malhotra
Central agencies are reportedly probing YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra's alleged links with Pakistani officials and the motive behind her trips to foreign countries including Pakistan, China, Dubai and Bangladesh. Reportedly, Malhotra has visited Pakistan twice, and she visited Kashmir ahead of the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22.
Sleuths from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Intelligence Bureau (IB) interrogated Malhotra about her alleged links with Pakistani officials and her foreign trips, Hindustan Times reported. Malhotra, arrested by Haryana police under espionage charges, was allegedly in close contact with Pakistani defence and intelligence officials.
Officials in the know of the development said NIA sleuths interrogated Malhotra about her alleged links with Pakistani Intelligence Operatives. “NIA team was here to interrogate the accused (Jyoti Malhotra),” Hisar superintendent of police (SP) Shashank Kumar Sawan told Hindustan Times.
The popular YouTuber from Haryana was arrested on Friday by Haryana police over her alleged links with Pakistani officials. According to police, though Malhotra did not have access to critical defence information, Pakistan was developing her as an 'asset'.
Besides NIA, IB officials also questioned Malhotra. According to officials, NIA may take over the probe in the case given her links with Pakistani officials. "Malhotra got her passport made in 2018 and she has since travelled to Pakistan, China, Dubai, Thailand, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Indonesia and other countries. We are gathering more details about her visits, particularly to Pakistan, China, Bangladesh and Dubai,” an officer aware of the probe told the publication.
Besides Malhotra, police have so far arrested 13 persons from Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh over their alleged Pakistani links. The arrests were made in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 in Jammu and Kashmir. As many as 26 persons were killed in the gruesome attack in the Valley since the abrogation of Article 370.
