CBI Arrests Jaunpur's India Post Sub Divisional Inspector & Associate For Accepting ₹25,000 Bribe

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two accused, including accused Sub Divisional Inspector (SDI), India Post Madiyahu, Jaunpur, (UP) and a private person for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs. 25000/- from the complainant.

A case was registered by CBI on 19.05.2025 against accused Sub Divisional Inspector (SDI), India Post Madiyahu, Jaunpur, UP on allegations that accused conducted inspection of India Post, Branch Office Seur, Jaunpur on 15.05.2025 where the complainant is currently posted as Branch Post Master.

During the inspection, it was alleged that a cash shortage was observed and accused SDI asked the complainant to submit a clarification for the same. It was further alleged that the complainant submitted his clarification on 17.05.2025 and on the same day accused SDI demanded a bribe of Rs 25000/- from the complainant in lieu of settling the matter and ensuring that the complainant is not suspended.

CBI laid a trap and caught the accused private person (Driver of Mail Motor) red handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.25000/- from the complainant in criminal conspiracy with said accused. Later, both accused were arrested and produced before the Court of Learned Special Judge, Anti-Corruption, CBI Court No. 6, Lucknow.

Investigation is continuing.
