Ensure adequate arrangements for Kheer Bhawani Mela: CS

SRINAGAR, May 20: Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo, today asked the divisional administrations of both the regions for ensuring immaculate arrangements for peaceful and successful celebration of annual Kheer Bhawani Mela to be observed on June 3 at Tulmulla Ganderbal.
Dulloo was speaking at a high level meeting of civil administration and Police Department held to take stock of the preparations being put in place for smooth conduct of this religious festival.
The meeting besides the Divisional Commissioners was attended by ACS, Jal Shakti; Principal Secretary, Home; Commissioner Secretary, H&UDD; Commissioner Secretary, Tourism; Commissioner Secretary, FCS&CA; Director, F&ES; Secretary, PWD, Secretary, Health; Secretary, RDD; Secretary, Transport; IGP, Kashmir/Jammu; Commissioner, SMC; Relief Commissioner; MD, JKRTC; Director Health, Kashmir; Director ULB, Kashmir and representatives from other departments.
All the concerned Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police participated in the meeting virtually along with several outstation officers.
The Chief Secretary emphasised upon both the Divisional Commissioners and Relief Commissioner to have close coordination with each other for pleasant experience of the pilgrims. He called upon them to make all the arrangements of transportation, accommodation, power, water, sanitation, medical aid and security as well.
Dulloo stressed on improving the arrangements whenever necessary. He asked for creating amenities for comfortable and satisfactory stay of the pilgrims at the shrine and enroute. He directed the district administration to make on spot assessment of the facilities created and requirement of any additional steps to be taken by them.
The Chief Secretary also assessed the transportation arrangements for the journey of devotees besides the condition of road leading to this Shrine, accommodation for night stay and provision of essential supplies to be made for smooth conduct of Mata Kheer Bhawani Mela this year. He asked for ensuring proper cleanliness of the Shrine premises and its surroundings besides collection of garbage and other waste material during the festival days.
Earlier, the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir gave overview of the measures being taken up by his administration.
Meanwhile, Chief Secretary today chaired the 2nd Empowered Committee Meeting of the Centre for Innovation and Transformation in Governance (CITaG) in which he emphasised upon laying of focus on implementation of projects in Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode after their identification by the departments.
Those who attended includes Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST-K; Director, IIM- Jammu; Commissioner Secretary, IT; Commissioner Secretary, Tourism; Commissioner Secretary, H&UDD; Commissioner Secretary, GAD and Information; Secretary, Planning; Secretary, Revenue; Secretary, Transport; MD, JKSPDC; MD, Housing Board; VC, LCMA, representative from NHLML and other concerned officers.
During this meeting the Chief Secretary took note of the progress made in hiring of technical resource persons for making this institution fully functional here. He also enquired about the capacity building programs initiated by CITaG to enhance the efficiency of the officers working here across the UT.
Taking note of the dozens of projects identified for taking up under PPP mode here, the Chief Secretary directed for showing team efforts and ensuring that each of them is implemented in a definite timeframe.
He made out that besides the equity from the private players and credit from 5he financial institutions the funding from Department of Economic Affairs, GoI and other relevant centrally sponsored schemes could also be explored to see these projects grounded here in the UT.
The Chief Secretary took this occasion to enjoin upon the different stakeholders to show utmost coordination with each other and took it upon themselves for making these projects to see the light of the day in a time-bound manner.
The Secretary, PD&MD, Talat Parvez presented a detailed status report and roadmap for ongoing and upcoming initiatives under the CITaG framework, highlighting the government’s resolve to build a future-ready, innovation-driven governance model for J&K.
