Work on revamping four radial roads leading to Golden Temple to begin soon

Finally, the government has planned the redevelopment and beautification of four radial roads leading to the Golden Temple. The project got approval under Amritsar Smart City Limited. The long-awaited construction work on four key radial roads leading to Darbar Sahib is set to begin soon, stated MC Commissioner Gulpreet Singh Aulakh during a meeting with the local MLA.

MC officials said the tendering process for the construction of the four roads is now complete. These roads are part of a heritage development plan, and their design will reflect the aesthetic and spiritual significance of the area. “Work on these heritage-style roads will commence following a formal inauguration next week,” the MLA announced.

MC Commissioner Gulpreet Singh Aulakh confirmed that a team of architects is currently preparing the final designs. Once the plans are finalised, the inauguration and construction will proceed without delay. During the meeting, MLA Central Ajay Gupta emphasized the urgent need to expedite sewer desilting works across all wards of the Central constituency. He also called for the immediate start of pending construction work on various streets and internal roads.

“The municipal corporation has issued tenders worth approximately Rs 49 crore. Work orders should be released at the earliest to ensure timely execution of projects,” said the MLA. He also demanded the operationalisation of tube wells that have already been inaugurated in the constituency. Officials responded that electricity meters are being installed at these sites, and the tube-wells will become functional shortly thereafter.
