Brief: Two held for outraging woman’s modesty
Phagwara: The Bilga police have arrested two miscreants and booked eight others on the charges of outraging the modesty of a woman. The arrested accused has been identified as Buta Singh of Pati Bagga, Bilga village, and his brother Tari. Davindar Singh of the same locality complained to the police that the accused and their accomplices barged into his house on May 18, assaulted his wife Parmindar Kaur, tore her clothes and used filthy language against her and assaulted him and his family members and ransacked his house. oc

Phagwara: The police have arrested a Thablke village resident for murdering a Nurmahal villager. The accused has been identified as Ravi Kumar of Thablke village. The accused murdered Bindar Singh (50) of Shidham Hari Singh village in Nurmahal on Monday. Satnam Singh, son of the deceased, complained to the police that his father went to Thablke village on Monday to drop his friend Preeti and was returning home when the accused attacked his father and murdered him near the village. oc

Phagwara: The police have booked a travel agent for allegedly duping a Shahkot villager of Rs 5 lakh on the pretext of sending him abroad. The accused has been identified as Jasveer Singh of Dhani Panjawan village in Shri Muktsar Sahib. Gurpreet Singh of Parjian Khurd village complained to SSP that he paid Rs 5 lakh to the accused for facilitating his migration abroad, but he was not sent abroad, and did not return the money. oc

Phagwara: The Shahkot police have booked unidentified persons for illegal sand mining. The police have received a complaint from mining officer Sahil Rampal against some persons who were indulging in illegal sand mining near Chak Bahmania village and impounded a JCB machine from the spot. Phagwara: The Mehatpur police have booked unidentified persons on the charge of stealing cash and jewellery from a house. Gurmukh Singh of Danewal village in Shahkot complained to the police that some thieves barged into his relative’s house in Burri Pind village on May 11 and stole Rs 50,000 and gold jewellery. oc
