Pakistani Suicide Bomber Kills 4 Children In Balochistan

At least four children were killed after a suicide bomber rammed a car into a school bus in Pakistan's Balochistan province on Wednesday morning.

The attack, which wounded 38 other people, took place in the district of Khuzdar as the bus was transporting children to a military-run school in the city, according to a local deputy commissioner, Yasir Iqbal, reported Associated Press.

No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack in the region which has been long riddled with insurgency by separatist groups.

Pakistan's Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi strongly condemned the attack and expressed grief over the death of the children. He called the perpetrators "beasts" who deserve no leniency. The enemy had committed an act of "sheet barbarism by targeting innocent children," he added.

The officials said they fear that the death toll may rise further as several children are listed in critical condition.

Pakistan's National Commission on the Rights of the Child (NCRC) also condemned the attack. "Targeting innocent children seeking knowledge is an absolutely unacceptable, inhumane, and barbaric act," it said in a statement.

The commission urged the federal and provincial governments to carry out an immediate, transparent, and thorough investigation into this incident.

It also called for increased protection measures for school children, especially in vulnerable districts.
