Mumbai: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts increased rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds in Maharashtra until 24 May due to a cyclonic circulation near the Karnataka coast. A yellow alert is active for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), while Palghar, Thane, and Raigad also face yellow alerts, and a red alert is issued for Sindhudurg. Heavy rains caused disruptions, including a building collapse in Kalyan with six fatalities and flooding in Mumbai. An orange alert is in place for other affected areas.

Reports from the weather department show that the minimum and maximum temperatures fluctuate between 27 degrees Celsius and 33 degrees Celsius, respectively.

A cyclonic circulation is anticipated near Konkan in the next 24 hours, and another system is developing over the Bay of Bengal. Extensive rainfall is expected from May 19 to 25, with significant precipitation predicted for Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra. Alerts feature yellow for Mumbai and red for Ahmednagar, Solapur, and Osmanabad.
