Like mother like daughter: Janhvi Kapoor’s Cannes debut sparks discussions as she pays tribute to her late mother, actress Sridevi

Janhvi Kapoor made her Cannes red carpet debut on Tuesday with a glamorous look that became the recipient of both admiration and criticism from her followers. The actress, who paid her first visit to the 78th Cannes Film Festival in a stunning blush pink couture gown by Tarun Tahiliani, wore an outfit traditionally handwoven from real tissue in Banaras, showcasing a textured look designed through the hand crush technique.

The ensemble was a picturesque blend of royalty and elegance, featuring a tight-fitted pink corset, an extravagant skirt, and a veil that spiraled across her wrist and lower bun. Her overall look was complemented with a layered pearl necklace and diamond studs, along with a glossy pink lip.

What made her look the talk of the day was her striking resemblance to her late mother, Sridevi. The late actress, known for her signature fusion of traditional attire and modernity, seems to have passed the legacy on to her daughter.

Unfortunately, the mixed responses from her fans have sparked discussions online. “It seems like you are walking for your wedding reception but shikar is missed,” an Instagram comment stated. Another comment read, “I understand the hard work that went into making it. But at the end of the day, it’s supposed to LOOK GOOD. This is ordinary. And the colour completely washes her out.”

Meanwhile, others praised Janhvi for her bold statement. “She’s not just serving looks, she’s serving legacy,” one netizen penned, while another wrote, “Your mom would have been so proud.”
