Govt committed to making state crime-free: CM Saini
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has reaffirmed the state government"s resolve to maintain law and order and eliminate crime from its roots. “My aim is to make Haryana a zero-crime state,” he said, while chairing a high-level review meeting on crime and policing.
The CM directed police and civil officials to work as a team at the grassroots level to ensure quick justice and restore public trust. “The complainant should not have to visit police stations multiple times to get an FIR registered. If an FIR can’t be lodged, the reason must be clearly explained,” he said.
On drug control, Saini praised recent awareness initiatives like cyclothons and stressed regular inspections of de-addiction centres for proper facilities. He instructed the police to step up surveillance in border and high-risk areas to break drug supply chains.
Taking a tough stance on repeat offenders and gangsters, he said, “Family members of those involved in heinous crimes should be barred from availing government benefits.” He directed that a proposal be drafted in this regard. He also called for coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs to expedite extradition of foreign-based gangsters.
Saini highlighted the need to strengthen CCTV networks across urban areas to monitor anti-social elements effectively.
Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Sumita Misra said 4,054 villages and 859 urban wards have been declared drug-free. Sports and awareness activities have reached 1.96 lakh youth and over 16.5 lakh people, respectively.
“Directions from the previous meeting are being implemented in letter and spirit and have begun showing visible results,” she added.
