Security forces launch Operation Trashi to gun down 3 terrorists in J&K's Kishtwar, encounter underway

An encounter is underway between security forces and terrorists in the Chhatru area of Kishtwar district, the Army said on Thursday. Terrorists opened fire at security forces as they launched a combing operation in the Kishtwar region. According to security forces, at least three terrorists have been trapped in the area, and fierce gunfighting is underway. 

In a post on X, Indian Army's White Knight Corps said, "Op Trashi: Contact has been established with #terrorists during a joint #operation with @JmuKmrPolice  at #Chhatru, #Kishtwar today morning. Additional troops have been inducted, and operations are ongoing to neutralize the terrorists."

 

Security forces have intensified anti-terror operations in Jammu and Kashmir in the aftermath of the gruesome Pahalgam terror attack in April. As many as 26 persons, including 24 tourists, a Nepali citizen and a local horse owner, were killed in the attack, the worst since the abrogation of Article 370 in the Valley. In a recent anti-terror operation, security forces killed three LeT terrorists hiding in the Valley.

 

India launched Operation Sindoor to avenge the Pahalgam terror attack on May 7. India conducted precision strikes and destroyed terror launchpads at nine locations along the Line of Control in the operation. While India maintained it does not wish to escalate the situation, Pakistan launched retaliatory strikes on May 8,9 and 10. India and Pakistan agreed to stop firing on May 10 following a conversation between the Director General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both nations.
