Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast more rain in the national capital Delhi. The weather department said that Thursday will be partly cloudy, while Friday and Saturday will be rainy and accompanied by thunderstorms. Earlier on Thursday, Delhi had a cold morning, the minimum temperature was recorded at 20.8 degrees Celsius, which is 5.9 degrees below the season’s normal.
The temperature dropped after a storm, strong winds, rain and hailstorm on Wednesday night. Two people died and 11 were injured in this storm. 12 mm of rain was recorded in the last 24 hours. The minimum temperature on Wednesday was 30.2 degrees Celsius, which was the highest minimum temperature of this season. The maximum temperature is expected to be 40 degrees Celsius on Thursday. The humidity at 8:30 am was 69%.
Low pressure area in Arabian Sea
IMD said that there is an upper air circular in the east-central Arabian Sea near the North Karnataka-Goa coasts. Due to its effect, a low pressure area has formed in the east-central Arabian Sea near the South Konkan – Goa coasts. It can move almost northwards in the next 36 hours and turn into a depression. According to IMD, it is more likely to turn into a depression in the next 4-5 days.
Weather alert in other states
IMD has issued an orange alert for heavy rains in Maharashtra, Karnataka, and West Bengal. Apart from this, a yellow alert has been issued for Tamil Nadu and Delhi.
Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Regional Metrological Center has issued an alert of heavy rain, thunder, lightning and strong winds in Shivamogga and Chikkamagaluru districts. Moderate rain is expected in Bellary, Bengaluru, Chamarajanagar, Chikkaballapur, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Hassan, Kodagu, Kolar, Mandya, Mysore, Ramanagara, Tumakuru, and Vijayanagara districts.
Mumbai: The Mumbai Regional Metrological Center said that due to the cyclonic circular in the Arabian Sea, rain, thunder and strong winds will continue till May 24. This may increase rainfall in South Konkan, South Madhya Maharashtra, and Mumbai.
Heatwave alert: The IMD has warned of heatwave in Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, North Madhya Pradesh, and South Uttar Pradesh. A red alert has been issued for Rajasthan, where the temperature may reach 47 degrees Celsius.
