Cuttack: Police ASI Caught Accepting Bribe

Cuttack: Pradeep Kumar Behera, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Tigiria Police Station, Cuttack, was apprehended by Odisha Vigilance today while accepting a bribe of Rs. 5,000.

The bribe was demanded by the police official from a complainant in exchange for amicably resolving a dispute between two parties, both of whom had filed counter FIRs at the Tigiria Police Station. Despite the dispute being settled, ASI Behera allegedly sought the illegal gratification to refrain from acting on the complaints.

A case has been registered against the ASI under Cuttack Vigilance PS Case No. 12, dated May 21, 2025, under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.

The Odisha Vigilance is investigating the matter, and further details are awaited.
