How Mumbai Indians Can Secure A Spot In IPL 2025 Qualifier 1
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has entered its final phase, with all four playoff spots sealed. Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings, and Mumbai Indians have secured their positions in the top four.
Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans currently top the table, while Mumbai Indians are sitting in fourth place. However, MI still have a slim chance of finishing in the top two.
One Game, Big Stakes for MI
Mumbai Indians have played 13 matches so far this season, winning 8 and collecting 16 points. Their final league match is scheduled against Punjab Kings on May 26. A win in that match will take MI to 18 points, keeping their hopes alive for a second-place finish.
What Needs to Happen for MI to Reach Top-2
Even with a win, Mumbai Indians will need other results to go their way. Both Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings still have two matches each remaining and sit on 17 points each. For MI to jump into the top-2, both RCB and PBKS must lose their remaining matches. If that happens, MI will end up ahead with 18 points and a superior standing.
A Season of Comebacks for MI
This is the 11th time Mumbai Indians have qualified for the IPL playoffs. Under Hardik Pandya’s captaincy, MI had a tough start, winning just one of their first five matches. However, the five-time champions bounced back strongly, stringing together six consecutive wins to storm into the playoffs.
Mumbai Indians (MI) have announced several replacements for the remainder of the IPL 2025 season. Jonny Bairstow, Charith Asalanka, and Richard Gleeson have joined the team.
MI updated squad for IPL 2025: Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Bevon Jacobs, Jonny Bairstow, Hardik Pandya, Mitchell Santner, Naman Dhir, Raj Angad Bawa, Charith Asalanka, Robin Minz, Shrijith Krishnan, Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult, Deepak Chahar, Reece Topley, Lizaad Williams, Arjun Tendulkar, Ashwani Kumar, Karn Sharma, Satyanarayana Raju, Richard Gleeson.
